    Telecoms and Energy stocks fared the worst in 2017 and they are likely to be as dull in 2018.

    Utilities and energy seem to drift closer to each other as energy stocks resemble utilities stocks in many ways.

    Consumer staples, healthcare and real-estate stocks are bundled together by performance by their real estate underlying.

    But real estate sector upside could be limited in the higher rates environment.

    Information technology stocks and materials sector stocks were the strongest in 2017. IT sector expanded into many other sectors like retail, healthcare, financials etc… but its expansion into mainstream materials sector is the slowest.

    Industrials look to be also very well supported in 2018 as infrastructure spending takes them to the next level.

    Financials are also set to benefit in the higher rates environment

    Consumer discretionary sector was among the best in 2017 and it looks to benefit very well in 2018 as consumers turn to spend the profits made in 2016-2017. It may even beat the IT stocks this year.
