Investors like Information Technology sectors this year +43% ytd. The sector is also in the lead this month, albeit the monthly performance is modest +3% as sector companies grab more business in consumer retail, financials and communications sectors.
Globally YTD laggards remain energy stocks -2.3%. They also are doing poorly this month down 1%, despite the Brent has added 12%, although the leaders among the losers this month are industrial stocks.
But in the emerging markets space, energy stocks are doing well this month: sector overall added 13% on a mom basis.
Oil price strength is likely to continue in our view as we mentioned in our commodities comments last Friday. Therefore strength in the emerging markets energy stocks are expected to pick up while developed markets energy stocks expected to catch up overall and the sector is likely to be highlighted on the positive side in the end of the year.
